The Garden Route is a very popular and scenic stretch of the south-eastern coast of South Africa that offers great hiking trails and other eco-tourism activities. The name comes from the diverse vegetation encountered here and the many lagoons and lakes that are located along the coast.
Nearly 300 species of bird life exist here and ten nature reserves embrace the varied ecosystems of the area as well as unique marine reserves, home to soft coral reefs, dolphins, seals and a host of other marine life.
The Route also has an oceanic climate that is the mildest climate in South Africa and the second mildest climate in the world, after Hawaii. Temperatures almost never fall below 10°C in the winter and rarely climb beyond 28°C in summer.
Visiting the Garden Route is an unforgettable holiday experience.
